Satis

A full fridge... pleasing to the eye... now to make it pleasing to the tummy I have to cook up what I bought... I think it shall be Mushrooms stir fry tonight. Look at that yummy pack of mushrooms! Vegetables and beer... I could go vegetarian.

"Home"

Got back to Aarhus at 5.30am this morning... I had been travelling for almost 24hours. My last day in Spain was all about travelling beacuse I made the stoopid mistake of choosing to fly out of Madrid instead of nearer Malaga. I caught the 7.30 train from Granada to Madrid which took about 7 hours. Reached Madrid at 2pm, realising that I had about 3 hours to before I needed to be at the airport, I checked my backpack into the locker and headed of to the Thyseen-Bornemisza Art Museum for a quick visit. It was refreshing, an oasis in the desert of my travel. I didn't have time for everything so I started from the end, the modern art section and stopped at the Impressionist. Good enough for me. The Prado almost killed me with its brilliant collection of Dutch Masters and Renaissance pieces.

The picture above is from my last night in Spain. I spent it sitting alone on the ramparts of the Alhambra watching the sun set on Granada and my Spanish Adventure. It was 9pm and there was not a tourist in sight (apart from me) and the place was dotted with just a handful of lovers. It was quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Just like how it was supposed to be. I sat there, thinking about my life, about Denmark, about Singapore, about why I decided to come on exchange, about travelling, how blessed I am to have travelled to so many places. That is how the Alhambra should have been, a place for quiet contemplation, a place where the Moorish Sultans could contemplate their lives, their next conquest and to recharge their spirits. A 1001 thoughts flooded my mind and with the cool breeze, the Sierra Nevada mountains behind me and this spectacular view before me, it was easy to sort them out and to give each the thorough attention it deserved. It was the same feeling that I had when I was alone in the Highlands of Scotland. And I swear that that feeling is an addictive high. Compelling you to travel the world in search of that special feeling. A moment of clarity and light heartedness.

I was glad to be back in Aarhus. Its the same kinda smile you have on your face when you reach Changi Airport after a long trip. I was surprised to have that feeling. Maybe Aarhus is more "home" than I would like to admit. Maybe its because the people here are so warm and friendly unlike in Spain. However, that feeling was somewhat underscored the moment I opened my room door and stared into the empty, dark space before me. Half wishing that WJ would jump out and hug me, welcoming me back. It was the same thing when I woke up after crashing on the bed. Slept only 3 hours cos I was hungry. I opened my eyes slowly, half hoping to see WJ sitting on the chair or lying beside me. But it was not to be. Instead, I was greeted by the sight of my 17 days worth of laundry and an empty refridgerator. NBCB!

August in Aarhus

Spent most of today taking Wenyi around town. Weather was good. No rain with sunshine!
Went to the Old Town today but will probably post the pictures only when i get back from Spain. This should be the last post for the next 2 weeks....
I feel a bit sad leaving Aarhus, well maybe not sad, but its the same kinda feeling I get each time I leave home (Singapore) for a long holiday. I guess its good cos it shows that I'm really comfortable with the place and all. Plus showing Wenyi around, I did feel kinda "local" hahaha
So long guys! Seeya in 2 weeks!

Reflections

Sitting around waiting to pick Wenyi up from the Station. Too late to sleep now. Too tired to do anything.
I wish WJ was here now. I'm sure she would love to travel to Spain with me.
Told my parents about Spain just now. (always wise to do it after you have booked your tickets)
I think too much partying leaves you low and down when its all over.

Copenhagen Canal Tour.

Late Night

Vodka party went well, drained off two bottles of Polish Vodka within an hour. Then headed downtown to some club for beers.
Woke up this morning with a headache and a growling tummy. Was about to ask my maid what's for breakfast when I remembered that I was here all alone in my room. I was so lazy to get breakfast but my stupid tummy wouldn't stop growling.
So since I'm up so early, I took the opportunity to upload some of the Copenhagen photos. I must say that they're not that good, largely due to the lousy weather.

Funny Graffiti

Is this a funny graffiti or what!?
Oh yes and due to some technical problem, all my links were wiped out.
Must be cos I tried to link Daryl's empty blog. His blogging habbits must be infectious! hohohoho

Domesticated

What did I do yesterday after school... Went to Ikea to buy some new furniture, lights and stuff. Carried everything back home by BUS. Rearranged the furniture in my room to get more space and so that I won't burn off my already sparse leg hair when I turn on the heating in the room. (My study table used to be just in front of the heater, below the window) Set up the new furniture, new lights and fixtures. Swept and mopped the floor, washed the toilet cos WENYI is coming from london tomorrow and well, he's sleeping on the floor. Its not as bad as it sounds lah! He will be on a sleeping bag with 2 ikea cushions for pillows. At the end of it all I even managed to cook up my favourite almost vegetarian pesto pasta! Well done I say.

Flying off to Spain next weds on Maersk Air. Yup, Maersk as in Maersk Cargo & Shipping. Really adds a whole new spin on the phrase "flying cargo class" eh. But its the cheapest and most direct route.

weT sunseT

It was another wet sunset last night. It was also another night of partys again.
Went to my neighbour's room for homemade pizza and wine(at last). Yeah HOMEMADE from the crust all the way up. It was more like an Austrian-German thingy so everyone there spoke German. I was trying very hard to figure out what they were saying but with my terribly basic German I was lost most of the time. Gave up after a few drinks and decided to make them speak more English! I swear by the time I get back to Singapore, my German would have improved by leaps and bounds but my Danish.... thats another story. Anyway after pizza and drinks we all headed out to another Summer party at the next dorm. That was with loads of drunk Danes but they only become friendlier when Drunk. For those in Law School, think Winston when drunk! hahaha. Spent the rest of the night playing drunken Fussball and with the Danes trying to figure out where Singapore is.

Jeremy and the Beer Factory

Photos from our trip to the Carlsber Brewery in Copenhagen. The tour includes 2 beers each ;) and since mom doesn't drink, its 4 beers for me. But we were late at the bar so we had to finish all our beers in 20 minutes... Which explains why the photos after the "sampling" are not so good.

Storm-Trooper

Back to the good ole days when my posts lived up to the blog's name.

Reflections...

Had too much beer last night... AGAIN. I am so not a beer person. I get bloated too easily.
But everything is fun when you're slightly tipsy.
Having so much fun with the people here that I am already giving second thoughts to travelling to Spain. Cos if I do go, it will be the end of next week which means I won't see them in Danish classes anymore. And since all of us are from different faculties we might not meet up that often once school proper starts. BUT if I don't go now, I don't see any time for me to do spain again. Choices choices choices.
Anyway back to last night's party, here were the main protaganist.
The polish; always drunk, looking for a beer at 10am in the morning. Spends more money on beer than on food. Parents are sending him a nice Polish Vodka this friday so we're all invited to his dom for Vodka sampling.
The French/Tunisian; Surprised that he's muslim, as a result of the food here he's mostly vegetarian but a good drinker nevertheless. A sensible balance to the Polish. Which explains why they're always together.
The Andorrian; Always smilely, always drinking beer.
The Germans; Keep telling me that back home they get beers in 1litre mugs. They say its so troublesome here cos they only sell beer in 1/2 pints. Geez. One of them has voluntereed to be my beer training coach.
The Belgiums; Bunch of Belgium girls who can drink under most guys in Singapore. Also craving their fruit beers like how I crave for Prata or Hokkien Mee.
The Singaporean; Bloated and woozy after a few beers, wishing there was hard liquor on sale, looking forward to the Vodka party on friday.

Yup so thats the merry lot... more or less. There are so many German students here that I think my German is improving faster than my Danish.
To Spain or not to Spain? The fucking weather this morning tells me that I should Spain.

Home is where the heart is, and my heart's in Singapore.

Indian Summer

Indian summer and dancing fan.
When its not pouring down buckets in Aarhus, the main street comes to life with mime artistes, all sorts of musical ensembles and even Fa Lun Gong activists. I love it when its sunny. But alas, it poured down buckets again today! Nabeh.

Legoland photos, I think I got too trigger happy but can you blame me? It was like my childhood coming to life!

Reflections...

Just realised the difference between travelling and exchange. When you travel, you're always sleeping in a hotel/hostel/guesthouse and you live out of a backpack. You're constantly reminded how temporal your stint abroad is. But when you're on exchange you MOVE into a room that is your "home" for the next year and you start to live out of a cupboard rather than a backapck. That is when the harsh reality is driven home, that I won't be seeing Wanjing and Liz for the next year.

Farewell or Good Riddance?

Seems more like good riddance eh, since only one of em is crying cos i'm leaving hahahaa.

The photos from the send-off. I know that yahoo is easier but there's something wrong with it cos i can't get my pictures uploaded. Imagestation is a bit more leh cheh cos gota sign in and all rite... but i'm sure its worth the hassle... kekeke if not then sod off!

Bus Ride

Staring into space, waiting for the bus driver to come. Took the wrong bus and ended up at the interchange.
Took a picture of what I was staring at or into.
Listening to Brian Mcknight's Back at One. Rembering how WJ sang it to me on MSN.
My eyes see this picture but my mind sees WJ walking out of her house. I'm in the car waiting for her as usual. I see her walking towards the gate. She smiles once she sees me. Bends down to unlock the gate and swiftly closes it behind her. She walks to the car and my heart beats faster and faster now. She opens the car door, and I can smell her, her Stella McCartney perfume fills my nostrils and excites my senses. I now reach over to touch her....
And the bus starts and I'm hoping that I've gotten on the right bus this time...

Arhhhh Aros

Aros, the Aarhus Art Museum. Its the only thing that I love in Aarhus. Even signed up to be a member. Now i can bring one guest in free everytime I visit the museum. Machiam like zouk member eh! A great incentive for you all to come visit me in Aarhus.
Weather was like shit today AGAIN! KNNBCCB! It was raining the whole fucking day. It was so cold that when I spoke I could see my breath! And this is SUMMER! GEEZ! I think it has something to do with Aarhus being near the sea or something lah. Being in the rain (even with a raincoat on your jeans still get wet) has made me sick, physically. My nose has been running like a tap and my head pounding like a fucked up pianist playing Wagner. Yes. I know i'm really sick cos i just turned down an offer to party at some club downtown and an invitation to get some beer at some student pub.
The orientation games today was not bad. Its ironic how I always zhao O games in Stinkapore... well i can boast that my first Orientation games were abroad! hahahaha The people are very friendly or at least they try to be. In a way it was good to be running around INDOORS. Made me all nice and warm and feeling slightly less sickish.

Ok people you know the drill, just copy and paste the link for the photos.

Rainbow

Finally managed to get an internet connection in my room. Its almost like seeing a rainbow after a rain storm. The weather here in Denmark has been SHIT. Rain rain go away. But without rain, there'll be no rainbows and the world would be deprived of such a beautiful thing. Without suffering you forget about the beautiful things you have in your life.

Net Addict.

Realised how bloody addicted I am to the dammn internet.
There is still no internet connection in my room yet.
Hope they get it going soon.
Everything in Denmark is in Danish, Surprise Surprise.
Well its more like, shock shock or horror horror, for me.
Take this example, I've never really used a proper washing machine and dryer in my life.
Now, I have to use it with the instructions in Danish!
Bloody hell.
