Vengence

Romans 12:19

I cannot help but think that the formal training I and many others of my trade have received has imbued us with the notion that we can avoid blame or guilt though the use of carefully weighted words and omission of facts. This training appeals to our very selfish nature and for those of us who lack the moral strength to resist, it also blinds us to the fact that real people are being hurt by our intentions, if not even our deeds. Feelings and emotions are neither heads of liability nor capable of being remedied by an award of damages; They are what makes us human. For us who indulge in the umbra of our training, we spend life skirting around our fellow human beings, like a ballerina in a dance; feet on point, ever ready to leap away at the sight of looming liability. Perhaps this is the origins of my fondness for ballets and ballerinas.
