i think that's the hugest problem i have with photographing - i sometimes feel too much of an intruder. when i was in an indoor food market in Oaxaca, my presence itself was already an intrusion, so i felt seriously uncomfortable taking out my camera and documenting things as if it was a zoo. of course eventually i got a taste of the reverse when some mexican high school kids took photos with my friend and i just because they havent seen asians around! the halting conversation in our bad spanish and their bad english was pretty hilarious though.
yeah, especially if you have a big ass camera. (like me) I would like to say that therein lies the beauty of a Leica M camera! Have you uploaded your mexico photos? There are lotsa photography tours where you go to touristy markets and take photos and stuff like that, or where they pay a "local model" to sit for you in a "natural" setting. I think that sucks. But of course they run away with the "best photo" awards all the time. Not my cuppa tea. Oh yeah, and did you oblige the mexican high school kids with a jackie chan pose or bruce lee flick of the nose? hahaha.
