Cuore Sportivo
Double exposure on my Holga.
My favourite shot of the whole roll.... hahaha been dying to scan it in and put it up.
I'm such an exhibitionist eh.
Hope matt will take care of my baby when I'm off to Denmark.
So many reasons to stay... but exchange is really a once in a life time opportunity.
Or so they say...

Homo Humanis
Humans always assume that we are the supereme life being on this earth.
We are capable of cognitive thought, we are equipped with emotions, we are endowed with the powerful tool of imagination.
But do all these faculties and abilities really make as a superior being as compared to insects who are void of all these capabilities relying solely on instinct?
A soldier under enemy fire might be better off without having the emotion of fear. A jilted lover contemplating suicide would be better off without having the emotion of sorrow. The list is endless. I am not saying that emotions, thought, imgination etc are useless but rather that it does not really make us the supreme life form on this planet.
Yes, we are the only species smart enough to invent the atom bomb. BUT we are the only species foolish enough to use it on each other with scant disregard for its effects and consequences. (There are enough nuclear weapons around to destroy the earth many times over)
My point is that at the end of the day, the characteristics that we attribute to humanity should not be seen as a sign of superiority. They should be taken as just that, a description of a particular species, nothing more nothing less.

Lost in Translation
For relaxing times, make it Suntory time...
Chanced upon a few bottles of Suntory whisky at this restaurant in CHIJMES today.
Made me think about the Movie Lost in Translation. Such an ordinary movie, with no thrills
no spills, no special effects etc yet somewhat profound. I really loved the ending, (the bit where Bob caught up with Charlotte and whispered something in her ear before leaving) it really reminded me of the ending in Dicken's Great Expectations where it is deliberately left uncertain and open to interpretation. Maybe I'm reading too much into it...
Anybody care to share their views on the ending?

The Sorcerer's Apprentices
Part 2 of Portraits. A continuation of yesterday's story.
After a few months of living a normal sedate life, both the Assassin and the Beauty were bored of their luxurious but meaningless lives. Therefore, in line with the Gahmen's scheme of continuous skills upgrading, they decided to sign up to become Sorcerer's Apprentices. Since it was a training, they were both paid a small allowance, and were not given any CPF. Yet they were happy as they were learning something new and potentially useful. Initially, the training was a bit shiong as the shi fu kept making them carry buckets of water from the well up 30 floors to his brand new HDB flat in Toa Payoh. But being Singaporeans they were Kiasu and had extra magic tuition from this retired Sorcerer shi fu who used to teach magic at a well known JC in the Bishan Toa Payoh area. So very soon, the Assassin & Beauty aka Socerer's Apprentices, aka Sorcerer's Sai Kang Warriors were able to use what they had learnt in tuition to magically change the brooms into servants and made the brooms carry the buckets of water from the well for them. (for those not magically inclined, imagine the 2 of them employing 10 Fallen Talents/Banglas to carry the buckets of water for them) Their Socerer Shifu was very pleased with their progress, unaware that they had been cutting corners, and started teaching them more useful stuff and they all lived happily ever after.

Mysterious Assasin, Famous Beauty
Trying to relieve some of the frustration and irritation from being back in uniform again with a fun portrait session.
In this set, yours truly is a famous assassin/kung fu master/ Hollywood Action Movie star whilst Ms J plays the role of the famous beauty.... Yes the face that launched a thousand shits... Oops I mean ships...
Legend has it that The Mysterious Assassin, i.e. Lim Peh sees the beauty working in the fields , plowing the padi. Despite being covered with water buffalo manure, the Assassin is strucked by her beauty and decides to give up his wondering, murderous, leacherous ways for this beauty. He sweeps her away in his Aston Martin (of course wiping off the manure first, who would want cow dung in an Aston Martin?!) and they live happily ever after in his east coast crib thats the size of a small hotel....
